These terms are the agreement between you and MapMap. They cover who can use the app, how you must behave, how subscriptions work, and the limits of our responsibility. Please read them — using MapMap means you accept them.
This summary is for orientation only — the full terms below are what legally applies.
Draft notice. This document is a working draft prepared from MapMap's actual product documentation. It must be reviewed and finalised by a qualified lawyer before publication — in particular the liability, dispute resolution, and consumer-rights sections, which vary significantly by country. All [BRACKETED] items must be completed.
These Terms of Use are a binding agreement between you and [LEGAL ENTITY NAME], [REGISTERED ADDRESS] ("MapMap", "we", "us"), governing your use of the MapMap mobile application and website (the "Service").
By creating an account or using the Service, you accept these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not accept them, do not use MapMap.
You may use MapMap only if you:
We verify your date of birth at registration. Providing a false date of birth is a breach of these Terms and grounds for immediate removal.
MapMap is a platform for meeting people. We are not an introduction agency, a matchmaker, or a background-checking service. We do not verify the identity, age, criminal history, marital status, or intentions of our users beyond the checks described in these Terms.
Automated photo moderation checks image content. It does not confirm that a person is who they claim to be. A profile passing moderation is not an endorsement by us. You are solely responsible for your interactions with other users, online and in person. See section 12.
You agree not to:
Some of this conduct is criminal. Where appropriate we report it to the authorities.
You keep ownership of the photos, text, and messages you create ("Your Content"). To operate the Service, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, adapt (for example resize photos), and display Your Content solely for the purpose of operating, improving, and securing MapMap. This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, subject to the retention periods in our Privacy Policy and to copies other users may lawfully retain.
We will not use your photos in advertising or marketing without your separate, specific permission.
You confirm that Your Content is yours to share, does not infringe anyone's rights, and complies with these Terms. We may remove content that breaches them.
MapMap's core features are free. Premium and VIP subscriptions unlock additional features at the prices displayed in the app. We may also offer 24-hour passes and call-minute packs. Prices vary by region and may change; we will give notice of changes affecting an active subscription.
Subscriptions renew automatically. Your Apple or Google account is charged for the next period within 24 hours before the current one ends, unless you cancel at least 24 hours beforehand.
All purchases are processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play under their own terms. We do not receive or store your payment details.
Cancel at any time in your store account settings — on iOS via Settings → your Apple Account → Subscriptions, on Android via Google Play → Subscriptions. Your plan stays active until the end of the period you have paid for. Deleting the MapMap app does not cancel your subscription.
Refunds are handled by the store you purchased from, under its policy — we cannot process them directly. Call minutes and 24-hour passes are consumable digital content delivered immediately; once used they are non-refundable, except where the law of your country provides otherwise.
EU/EEA and UK consumers: you normally have a 14-day right to withdraw from a distance contract. By starting to use paid digital content immediately, you request immediate performance and acknowledge that you lose the right of withdrawal once it is fully performed. [CONFIRM WORDING WITH COUNSEL — MANDATORY CONSUMER RIGHTS VARY]
Subscription products may not be available in every region or at every time.
You alone are responsible for your interactions with other users. MapMap does not screen users for criminal history, and we cannot guarantee anyone's conduct, identity, or intentions.
We strongly recommend that you:
If you are in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services. To report a user to us, use the in-app report tool or support@mapmap.app.
The MapMap name, logo, app, design, and software are owned by us and protected by intellectual property law. We grant you a personal, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the app for its intended purpose. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or create derivative works from any part of the Service without our written permission.
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, that location data or distances will be accurate, that you will find a match, or that any user is who they claim to be. Real-time features rely on periodic polling and network conditions, so messages and updates may be delayed.
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded — including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. Consumers retain all mandatory statutory rights.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, MapMap and its officers, employees, and suppliers are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, data, goodwill, or the conduct of any user — whether online or offline.
Our total aggregate liability arising from or relating to the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) [e.g. USD 100].
[SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THESE EXCLUSIONS — COUNSEL MUST CONFIRM ENFORCEABILITY AND ADD REQUIRED CARVE-OUTS]
You agree to indemnify and hold MapMap harmless from any claim, damage, loss, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your content, your breach of these Terms, or your interaction with any other user.
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features at any time. We may also update these Terms; if changes are material we will notify you in the app or by email before they take effect. Continuing to use MapMap after that means you accept the updated Terms. If you do not accept them, delete your account.
These Terms are governed by the laws of [JURISDICTION], without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of [COURTS].
Consumers: if you are a consumer resident in the EEA, the UK, or another jurisdiction with mandatory protections, nothing here deprives you of the protection of the mandatory laws of your country of residence, or of your right to bring proceedings there. EU consumers may also use the European Commission's online dispute resolution platform.
